Why? What is it about the Starbuck/iPod scenario that you like the most? The
fact that you don't have to put any effort in?
The Bushmen aren't all starving to death, they are living a sustainable way of
life. If the area they're in isn't giving them what they need and the tribe
really does start starving to death then they move on. They aren't completely
stupid. What are you going to do if there's a year of environmental disasters
and food supplies to Britain get cut? Still sit in Starbucks listening to your
iPod? This could happen you know, we are at the mercy of nature as well.
It's arguable that the Bushman lifestyle can create better happier community of
people. You aren't just looking out for yourself at all times, you're looking
out for your whole tribe. A day spent digging for yams to bring back to the
tribe can be far more rewarding than a day spent commuting, sitting in an
office, concentrating on yourself and empathising with no one.
True, civilstaion has achieved great things and we aren't going to colonise a
planet if we all live a sustenance life in the desert, but that doesn't mean we
can't learn something from the Bushmen. They have something our society now
lacks and neds to get back before we all perish in a mire of selfish hate.
