If you trust a politician, any politician, you're an idiot.

> c) You usually agree with policy-wise

Firstly, (c) is totally irrelevant, since even a novice politician can
express things they don't agree with, believe things they won't
express, believe in multiple contradictory points of view, and change
what they believe at the drop of a hat to suit political realities on
the ground.

As a result of the above, (b) is also irrelevant, as any person that
is any good a politics cannot and should not be trusted.

Which leaves only question (a), to which the answer must be "how can I
know?" since the public image of all politicians is carefully
stage-managed, and therefore the relationship it bears to a
politician's actual personality is impossible to determine.

See, I couldn't think of one, except maybe Tony Benn... but even
that's probably cos I only have a 'kindly old uncle' view of him... I
might find his actual policies a bit much.

OK, I'm pleased with your answer, cos I was sitting here wondering if
I had become much too cynical. But apparently not.

Do you lot ever talk about anything else?
