It's a shitter - but we're tied. And quite often it's made out to be OUR
fault - I get so much shit over this, it's untrue."
Do you not have an obligation to tell them how much its costing ?
What, when they ask? Yeah - we tell them. But the problem is that most of
these porn diallers are the dodgy ones - ie - flash in the pan companies
that have managed to get around ICSTIS, the regulatory body within the UK
for this sorta thing (BTW - if you ever have to ask what the fuck that 0906
number is on your bill - look here -
http://www.icstis.org.uk/icstis2002/PhoneNumberLookup/AskPhoneNumber.asp) -
We now have software that notifies us when Premium rate calls have been
made - so we can contact the customer and ask if they are aware - but
obviously, the calls have been made by then - and there is usually a two
day backlog from the carrier.
So, to answer the question I think you asked, we can't say "0906 numbers
cost X amount", because, apart from very rare cases, the company/individual
that set up the number sets the rate. And they don't have to tell us - they
have to inform the end user, but they don't always do that.
