It was a disastrous night for the Tories. If they repeat this performance on election night, they'd be lucky to even stay the Opposition.

But it's a by-election. Which are shit predictors of general elections. I suppose the tories are doing worse than they should in a mid-term election, but how generalisable is this result. What sort of vote have they had in the past?


The ironic thing is that UKIP will, by their successes, probably hand the Lib Dems several seats that would otherwise have gone Tory.

That is possible. On the other hand, it could bring a few Tories back in.

Hooray for FPP. The simple voting system everyone understands.
