I find myself increasingly unlikely to scroll through posts to a mailing
list. But that doesn't really affect anything.  If you're having a
conversation with someone over email, top-posting makes much more sense
than having to scroll, edit quotes, etc.  If you're posting to a list like
this, where people only pay half attention to most of the stuff that's
written, then it's courteous to put every message in context with the last
- which is better done with bottom-posting.

I feel grimy for even trying to have an opinion on this.

Everyone should put down their weapons and come together to attack those
who think their messages are too good to need ">" symbols in front of
quoted text. I used to know what Jon Holyfield thought about things,
because I'd see the first 10 characters of all the URLs he sent, and
because I get the Guardian. But now he's mixed in with whoever he's
talking to.  I didn't mean to single Jon out there, but it might as well
stay in.
