Look it's very simple.

Bottom post to continue the conversation in a supine manner.
Top post to steer the conversation in a new direction or to invalidate 
the person you are replying to- to let the reader know you shouldn't 
even bother with the below.
Contextual post if the other person is so stupid you have to tear them 
apart line by line.
