There is a great difference between looking after and respecting your family,
and lying about pretending to like them. To ignore this is childish.
My grandmother was a horrible woman. She made my father's life hellish
whenever she could, since he was a child. She died of cancer, and took two
years to do it. In the end she was entirely composed of cancerous cells -
Cancer Woman.
So of course we looked after her, travelling endlessly back and forth to
Wales. Why? Because she was a member of the family.
But it would be a pathetic lie if I had to pretend that I thought she was the
bestest woman ever, because a more civilised society would *demand* that I
did.
That you immediately jump to an easy jibe about the Bible demonstrates you
unwillingness to consider the point that in a reasonable society, one is
entitled to have opinions and feelings about people based on what they are
like. Try harder.
